What We Do

LEI’s roots stem from the initial round of privatization of electricity, gas, and water companies in the UK. Since then, LEI has advised private sector clients, market institutions, and government on renewable and conventional energy policy initiatives, procurement, market and tariff design, asset valuation, market power, and strategy in virtually all deregulated markets worldwide.

LEI benefits from a balance of private sector and government clients, which enables the firm to effectively advise both regarding the impact of regulatory initiatives on private investment as well as regulatory responses to activities undertaken by individual firms. Drawing on a broadly multicultural and multilingual group of consultants, LEI has done extensive work with electricity markets in North America, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. This diversity of resources and experience gives the firm multiple reference points for its analysis and helps it to appropriately balance private value and public benefit.

Using internally developed proprietary models for contract and physical asset valuation, LEI has supported clients in securing financing for large-scale investments, preparing regulatory filings, and in providing expert courtroom testimony. LEI’s analytical tools include models for price forecasting incorporating game theory, real option valuation, Monte Carlo tools, and sophisticated statistical analysis. LEI ‘s Continuous Modeling Initiative (“CMI”) draws on these tools, as well as the latest market data, to provide industry participants with regularly updated 10-year forecasts of key electricity markets, which are available through London Economics Press (“LEP”) at www.londoneconomicspress.com.

LEI team has numerous energy sector clients around the world
